some seem to think that
life is True or False
(False.)
it is a little
like an essay question
plenty of compare and contrast
man versus woman
black versus white
us versus them
(too much of that)
not an easy essay
so much paradox
and inconsistency
(provide examples)
I've had an unhappy life
with a lot of happiness in it
I wouldn't trade it with anybody
I wouldn't wish it on anybody
(I've done a few things I'm not sorry for)
I like to think that
life is multiple choice
a) joyful
b) painful
c) confusing
d) all of the above
there are similarities
you do best if you prepare
you really shouldn't copy
(you won't learn anything that way)
but the answers aren't in the back of the book
it isn't graded on the curve
and you don't need a #2 pencil
(life is not a standardized test)
