Now that you're all set up and know how to get around, you'll post your files to your new folder on the remote site. You find the appropriate folder on the left (local) and right (remote) side and select the files you want to transfer. As in Windows, you can select multiple files and folders by shift-clicking and control-clicking. In the picture below, we clicked on the folder 'FTPpix' on the local side, then held down the Shift key while clicking the file 'index.htm'. That selected those two and all the files in between. You can also skip around and select here and there by holding down the Control key.

The address bar above the Remote Site window shows your destination folder. What you transfer will go in this folder. Notice that the Remote Site doesn't contain any files at all. you're about to change that. Also take note of the two arrow buttons in between the left and right windows. |
The lower arrow button is pointing from the left to the right. When you click this button, the selected files and folder will be transferred from the local to the remote site.

There they are! The messages at the bottom end with the line, "226 Transfer complete." This means you were successful. Most of your site maintenance is likely to involve replacing existing files with a newer file with the same name. This is called Overwriting. |
