You may choose one of three topics on which to write your paper. Please check with me prior to writing your paper as to the option you choose. If too many people select a certain subject, you may be asked to select another option. All papers must cite at least four sources. You may use your textbook as a source, but only sparingly. Option IChoose a psychological disorder (e.g. depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality, schizophrenia). Provide a description and analysis of the disorder. Choose one form of therapy and discuss how this therapeutic approach would treat your chosen disorder, or choose one major personality theorist and discuss how he/she would treat the problem. The last third of your paper (approximately two pages) should include your personal observations. Examples: I am interested in this topic because... I was surprised by, or I learned... I now want to... In other words, in the context of this paper, tell me about yourself. Option IIChoose one from this list of psychologists: Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, J. L. Moreno, George Kelly, Albert Ellis, Frederick Perls. What are his/her contributions to the field of psychology? What therapeutic approaches does he/she use? Why did you choose this person? What relevance does this person's approach have on your life? Refer to the "I" statements of Option I. Option IIIWrite a paper on the new, expansive field of Positive Psychology. Provide an analysis and exploration of this field. There is good information at www.positivepsychology.org. Again, the last third of your paper should include the aforementioned personal and "I" statements. |
