The Monkees

Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, Ltd.
1967

One fateful summer 70's night, one of my fellow explorers, a friend from high school, said to me, "You know what will really blow your mind?  Drop acid and listen to the Monkees."

I did.  It did.  They were!  These guys didn't call their movie Head just because they liked the sound of it.

By the time of Pisces, Aquarius, their fourth album, the boys had achieved significant control over their product.  The result is a fine album, with spacey tunes like Daily Nightly and Door Into Summer wrapped around hits like Words and Pleasant Valley Sunday, a song which comes to mind even now, any time I cruise through the 'burbs.
