The Albums |
In the liner notes accompanying the CD, Randy California
(guitar) pays well-deserved tribute to the late Sardonicus producer David
Briggs, referring to the album as "in many people's opinion, Spirit's
finest creation to date." Many people are absolutely right.
Spirit's excellent musicianship and Briggs' superlative production resulted in a
masterful concept album about pain, pleasure and sensation, and a masterpiece of
psychedelia. Outstanding songs like Animal Zoo, Mr. Skin, and the
hit Nature's Way flow through deft musical transitions, making the album
a seamless, mind-bending experience. In fact, my Older, Taller and Darker Brother and I disappeared completely into this album numerous times over the summer of '71. Don't worry. We came back out. Links of 'note' An unofficial Spirit page
