I was 18 years old during the Vietnam war. I had no intention of going, and I have no problem with anyone who went, or anyone who didn't go. I only have a problem with those who were all excited and enthusiastic for somebody else to go. They were known as "chicken hawks," which is a polite way of putting it. They are now known by other names. Too many of those names are listed in the "Government Pages" in the Washington phone book.
Here are three links of interest, representing the people who really matter, the people who actually went there and fought the Vietnam War.
Their "About the War" link is outstanding
Check their "History of the War"
Major O'Donnell says it all
Full disclosure: I could not complete this page without crying.
